Born in the Islands, raised in the sea. The Caribbean’s Philip Barnard was sailing at the young age of 4. By age thirteen, he was skippering charter yachts throughout the Caribbean islands and by age 17 was on his first Trans Atlantic crossing.
Philip has been a fixture in Caribbean racing since 1984. He is a Veteran of the Virgin Islands Challenge for the Americas Cup and of the Skandia / Nicorette off shore sailing teams. In early 2002 after completing some time on the Maxi cat Orange he joined the Storm Sailing team as tactician and stayed with the boat for 3 years with great success in the Caribbean racing circuit.
With the growth of the J24 class in Barbados, Philip started the Team Sail Caribbean sailing team and began reciting crew for Caribbean and US elite racing.
Philip is a high level sailor and also coaches teams to develop the team building and sailing skills necessary to be competitive in elite racing classes. He continues to sail professionally in every area from Bow, Helmsman, Tactics and Navigation. He is a genuine, highly experienced sailor and a true expert in his field.
